BCFA Launch New Continuous Personal Development (CPD) Educational Program Launch for Architects & Designers

As part of our mission to continuously add value to membership of the Association the BCFA are delighted to announce that we are developing our own CPD accreditation service. This is an opportunity for members to create educational material for their clients within the A&D community.

This new BCFA CPD program will provide architects & interior designers with a range of educational material structured around the specification of furnishing products for commercial use. BCFA members are specialists in this area and represent the very best products and services supplied from the UK and Ireland. BCFA members are keen to share their knowledge and expertise to improve the specification process and support our industry in the specification of ‘right product right place’ from a suitability/durability/safety perspective as well as aesthetic. Architects and Interior designers who would like to book a CPD can view the current program here.  As the program has just launched we have 4 topics accredited at present and we will announce each new topic once available.

The CPD accreditation process is only open to BCFA members who have all signed and agreed to the BCFA Code of Practice. The criteria and details of the submission process are available to members on receipt of your completed registration of interest. The fee for each CPD submitted will be £350 and the accreditation for that material will last for two years. Your CPD material can be either a presentation or a factory/site visit.

There will be a BCFA member panel to provide final approval of all the CPD material. The audit process will be approved by external adjudicators from within the Design and University sectors.  We intend for much of the vetting and advice to members to be initially provided by the BCFA team with a final quality control once we internally assess that the CPD material has passed all the criteria.

We are holding a CPD workshop for interested members following the launch to inform best practice and guidance to members seeking to develop CPD material. Further Information

This program will be independent of the other professional bodies that provide an assessment service such as RIBA, SBID & BIID. All professional bodies confirm that structured CPD activities are key to ensuring that professionals following a career in architecture or interior design maintain and update their skills and knowledge following qualification. For these professions investing time in CPD is key to retaining professional memberships and obligations. CPD that can be included in the learning process and count towards points that may be accredited by any relevant professional body. To be of most value it should be structured with clear learning aims and outcomes. It is up to the individual professional to determine the value of the CPD material and how it has added points or provided learning outcomes.

For BCFA members your brand name and logo can be included in the name and marketing of your CPD, the BCFA will be providing the accreditation, administration and additional promotional support of the CPD.
