The First Middle East Design & Hospitality Week Was A Resounding Success

The first prestigious Middle East Design & Hospitality Week, made up of eight design and interiors shows including The Hotel Show and Index Design, took place at the Dubai World Trade Centre over three days in mid-September. A truly international event, over 1,200 exhibitors participated from 80 countries and the show welcomed over 35,000 visitors from 110 countries.

A UK group of 20 Design & Interiors companies, including BCFA members Larson-Juhl and Burgess Furniture, displayed a wealth of creative products for hospitality, residential, commercial and public spaces.

BCFA facilitated the group, with support from the UK Department of International Trade, who also brought in Gulf Regional Trade Officers from around the GCC who met with the participating UK companies.

A pre-show networking evening reception, hosted by Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for the Middle East, Simon Penney, provided an excellent opportunity for UK companies to meet local buyers and designers.

Held at the newly opened Zabeel House Hotel, it gave the group the opportunity to experience the wider contemporary area of Al Seef, a new destination offering retail, dining, and hospitality experiences spanning the Dubai Creek waterfront.

During three day MEDHW run, more than 100 leading experts from the regions’ design and hospitality industries took part in a series of talks with the overarching theme of “The Shape of Things to Come” exploring how clients and interior design experts in the hospitality, interiors and leisure sectors are sourcing and creating unique environments leading up to the future landmark events taking place in the region.
