BCFA is proud to welcome on board Gainsborough. Founded in 1903, Gainsborough designs, dyes and weaves in the same mill it has occupied since 1924. Holder of the Royal Warrant to HM The Queen, its fabrics hang in the royal palaces, the National Gallery, Downing Street and fine hotels from the Goring and Claridge’s to the Peninsula Hong Kong.
As it celebrates its 115th anniversary, the Sudbury-based weaver is branching out by adding collections in inherently flame-retardant polyester to its offering, to become a more versatile partner to the contract sector. MD Emerson Roberts explains:
“Designers and specifiers are often limited by cost-constraints to consider us only for high-profile areas in their schemes, like entrance halls; we’ve tended to miss out on the bigger volumes. The IFR collections we’re launching allow us to bridge that gap and offer the trade the best of both worlds: the beauty and integrity of our designs at a price point that allows them to bring our stunning designs for drapery and upholstery to their entire schemes.
“Our IFR collections will be distinct from anything else on the market and will reflect our heritage as a designer-maker, which will also allow us to offer bespoke IFR fabrics in runs as short as 120m.”
